While “Avatar’s” opening day earnings did not break any records at $27 million, it seems that the 3-D epic slowly but surely showed everyone that it is now the king of the world, having broken “Titanic‘s” $1.8 billion in ticket sales worldwide.
“Avatar” has been in the cinemas for six weeks but until now it is still going pretty strong, making everyone wonder just how much dough it will rake in for 20th Century Fox, whose execs must be very happy.
Another happy person must be “Avatar’s” proud daddy, James Cameron, whose tow movies “Titanic” and “Avatar” now holds the top 2 spots in box office records.
Comparisons are being made between the two movies, what with the Avatar’s ticket prices obviously being much higher (56% more) than Titanic’s. Whatever the case, the bottom line still says that in terms of revenue Avatar wins.
